Disclosure Requirements

Disclosure by manufacturers and importers of cigarettes to government authorities of information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their cigarettes

Analysis

The law grants the authority to the Ministry of Health and the Food and Drugs Authority to require returns, reports and other information to be submitted to the Food and Drugs Authority by manufacturers and importers of tobacco products. On registration and re-registration of a product, the Food and Drugs Authority requires submission of information on active ingredients, all other ingredients (including specifications, quantities and reasons for inclusion), and any additional raw materials used in the manufacturing process and not in the final product.

The law aligns with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines in that it requires disclosure by manufacturers and importers to government authorities of information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their cigarettes.

The law grants the authority to the Ministry of Health and the Food and Drugs Authority to require returns, reports and other information to be submitted to the Food and Drugs Authority by manufacturers and importers of tobacco products.

On registration and re-registration of a product, the Food and Drugs Authority requires submission on more than 40 toxic emissions in both mainstream and sidestream smoke. Additionally, the manufacturer must bear the costs for testing samples.

The law aligns with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines in that it requires disclosure by manufacturers and importers to government authorities of information on the emissions of their cigarettes.
