Sub-national Laws

Are sub-national jurisdictions permitted to have smoke-free laws?

Yes

If yes, are they allowed to be more stringent than national law?

Yes

If yes, do one or more sub-national jurisdictions have smoke-free laws more stringent than national law?

Uncertain

A brief comment on the extent of sub-national legislation:

Under Art. 5(4) of the Protection of Health Act, municipal councils may establish, by resolution, additional places as smoke free other than those listed in the national law. However, for those places listed in the national law, sub-national laws may not be more stringent.
