Israeli Society for the Prevention of Smoking v. Israel Broadcasting Authority

The Israeli Association for the Prevention of Smoking asked the court to order a state-owned TV channel to air its informational ads free of charge, to counter the appearance of cigarette advertisements in sports events. The court denied the petition, citing the Broadcasting Authority decision to refrain from broadcasting any sports events in which cigarette advertisement is posted in sports arenas or on athletes’ uniforms.
