Does the law establish a minimum age for the purchase of tobacco products?
The law prohibits the sale of tobacco products to anyone under the age of 18. All establishments where the sale and supply of tobacco are authorized are required to display a sign in Spanish and other co-official languages indicating the prohibition to sell tobacco to minors under eighteen, along with a warning of the health hazards derived from tobacco use.
The law meets FCTC Art. 16 in that it prohibits the sale of tobacco products to minors.
