Analysis

The law requires tobacco manufacturers and importers to register all tobacco products that are sold or imported in Brazil. The registration application requires the listing of all types of tobacco used, the additives used, and the maximum quantity of each tobacco or additive. Registration must be renewed each year. This information is required for each product type within each brand family.

The law aligns with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines in that it requires disclosure by manufacturers and importers to government authorities of information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their cigarettes.

Analysis

The law requires tobacco manufacturers and importers to register all tobacco products that are sold or imported in Brazil. As part of this registration process, manufacturers and importers are required to disclose information on emissions of cigarettes, cigars, and cigarillos sold or imported in Brazil. Registration must be renewed each year.
