COMMENTS: Uganda Standard 313:2002 is the current regulation in place requiring a single text warning appear on packets of cigarettes. These requirements are no longer in force, having been replaced by the packaging and labeling requirements under the Tobacco Control Regulations, 2019.

COMMENTS: The Tobacco Control Act, 2015 is the primary law in Uganda regulating tobacco products and tobacco use and regulates restrictions on smoking in public places, advertising, promotion and sponsorship of tobacco products, production and sale of tobacco products, measures to protect against tobacco industry interference, and tobacco packaging and labeling measures, among others.
COMMENTS: The Tobacco Control Regulations, 2019 were issued under the Tobacco Control Act, 2015 and contain detailed requirements related to packaging and labeling, additives, signage, and disclosure.
