Disclosure Requirements

Disclosure by manufacturers and importers of cigarettes to government authorities of information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their cigarettes

Analysis

Manufacturers and importers of tobacco products are required to submit, by brand name and type, a list of all ingredients, and quantities thereof, used in the manufacture of the tobacco products. In addition, manufacturers and importers of cigarettes and roll-your-own tobacco must submit a general description of the additives used and their properties. This information must be submitted not later than three months prior to placing the tobacco product on the market. If a product is modified in any way that affects the information provided, a manufacturer or importer must notify the Health Services Executive within one month of when the modified product was manufactured.

The law aligns with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines in that it requires disclosure by manufacturers and importers to government authorities of information on the contents and/or ingredients used in the manufacture of their cigarettes.

Disclosure by manufacturers and importers of cigarettes to government authorities of information on the emissions of their cigarettes

Analysis

Manufacturers and importers of tobacco products are required to submit, by brand name and type, the emissions levels of tar, nicotine and carbon monoxide, and "where available, information on other emissions and their levels."

The law aligns with FCTC Art. 10 and the FCTC Arts. 9 & 10 Partial Guidelines in that it requires disclosure by manufacturers and importers to government authorities of information on the emissions of their cigarettes.
