Analysis

Individuals who sell single cigarettes will be subject to a fine of one minimum daily salary along with the seizure and destruction of the product. In case of a repeat offense, the fine will be increased to two minimum daily salaries, along with the seizure and destruction of the product and business closure. The Office of the Secretary of State at the Industry and Commerce Department through the General Consumer Protection Office is the enforcement agency.

Individuals who sell tobacco products through vending machines or the internet are subject to a fine of ten minimum monthly salaries for the first offense and a fine of 20 minimum monthly salaries and closure of the company for 30 calendar days for a repeat offense. Municipalities in addition to the Institute for the Prevention of Alcoholism, Drug Addiction and Drug Dependency (IHADFA) are the enforcement agencies.
