Tobacco (Labelling) (Amendment) Regulations, 2012

COMMENTS: Tobacco (Labelling) (Amendment) Regulations, 2012 was issued under the Tobacco Order, 2005 and amends the Tobacco (Labelling) Regulations, 2007. The amendments increase the size of required warnings from 50% to 75% of principal display areas and replace the First Schedule (warnings for smoked tobacco products) and the Second Schedule (warnings for small containers of smoked tobacco products).

COMMENTS: Tobacco (Prohibition in Certain Places) (Amendment) Notification, 2012 was issued under the Tobacco Order, 2005 and amends the Tobacco (Prohibition in Certain Places) Notification, 2007. Amendments to the First Schedule delete provisions allowing for smoking areas in office premises and airports and add financial institutions to the list of smoke free places.

COMMENTS: Tobacco (Labelling) Regulations, 2007 was issued under the Tobacco Order, 2005 and implements the packaging and labeling provisions of the Tobacco Order. The regulations provide the requirements for the content, form, placement, and rotation of health warnings on tobacco product packaging. The three schedules display the picture and text warnings as they should appear on packages of smoked tobacco products, small containers of smoked tobacco products, and smokeless tobacco products, respectively. Tobacco (Labelling) (Amendment) Regulations, 2008 changed the effective date of the regulations to December 1, 2008.

COMMENTS: Tobacco (Composition of Offences) Regulations, 2007 was issued under the Tobacco Order, 2005 and implements Article 31 of that Act, which allows the Director-General to compound offenses. It sets out the offenses in the Act for which penalties may be compounded.

Tobacco (Prohibition in Certain Places) Notification, 2007

COMMENTS: Tobacco (Prohibition in Certain Places) Notification, 2007 was issued under the Tobacco Order, 2005 and implements the smoke free provisions of the Tobacco Order, 2005. The First Schedule lists smoke free places and the Second Schedule lists smoke free public transport. The Regulations also provide definitions for types of smoke free places listed in the schedules.
