Sales Restrictions
A violation of the ban on vending machine sales is punishable by imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months, a fine up to one lakh (100,000) taka, or both. If a person contravenes the provisions more than once, every time the amount of fine shall be doubled. There are no other sales restrictions and therefore no other specified penalties.
Location-based Sales Restrictions
Tobacco sales are not restricted by location in any way; therefore, there are no associated penalties.
Minimum Retail Package Size
The law does not regulate the minimum size of tobacco product packages; therefore, there are no associated penalties.
Minimum Legal Sales Age
Any person that sells tobacco products to a person below the minimum legal sales age (18) is subject to a fine of up to 5,000 taka. The amount of the fine shall be doubled upon each subsequent violation.
