Penalties
Manufacturer
The law does not include penalties for manufacturers in violation of packaging and labeling requirements.
Importer
Ministry of Public Health; Ministry of Interior Affairs; National Environment Protection Agency; Ministry of Finance
(e.g., seizure of the product, publication of the violation/violator)
Individuals who import tobacco products that do not contain health warnings in an international language are subject to a fine of 250,000 Afs. In addition, the Ministry of Finance is obliged to destroy these products.
The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior Affairs and the National Environment Protection Agency, is responsible for collecting fines.
Wholesaler
The law does not include penalties for wholesalers in violation of packaging and labeling requirements.
Retailer
The law does not include penalties for retailers in violation of packaging and labeling requirements.
